Shawn Halquist

Shawn Halquist is a brass/music adjudicator and lifelong music educator with nearly 50 years in band direction and performance design, who retired in 2022 after a 38-year career as a high school band director. After degrees from Edinboro University and SUNY Binghamton, he taught 13 years in the Millcreek Township School District (Erie, PA) and 25 years at Brockport (NY) Central Schools. He judges for Drum Corps International, the New York State Field Band Conference, the Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges, Cavalcade of Bands, and other circuits, serving as a Music Brass judge at DCI World Championships (including the 2024 All-Age and 2025 events), and designs shows and writes arrangements for all levels.
