Thunder began as Spokane Thunder after the Spokane Drum Corps Association formed in 2004. The corps competed in DCI Division III/Open Class, became Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps as its reach grew beyond Spokane, and stopped fielding a corps after the 2017 season due to insufficient community support.
